Jennifer Sinclair Curtis Elected to National Academy of Engineering

Jennifer Sinclair Curtis, Distinguished Professor in the University of California, Davis, Department of Chemical Engineering, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering. Curtis, who served as the first female dean of the UC Davis College of Engineering from October 2015 through December 2020, is one of 16 current UC Davis faculty members in the academy.

Scott Mauger, M.S. ’10, Ph.D. ’13 Honored for Contributions to Coating Science and Technology

 

Scott Mauger, M.S. ’10, Ph.D. ’13 was one of two NREL scientists recognized at this year’s International Society of Coating Science and Technology (ISCST) Symposium for their contributions to coating science and technology.

Mauger—a scientist in the Thin Film and Manufacturing Science Group within the Materials Science Center at the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL)—received the L.E. Scriven Young Investigator Award, a prestigious recognition awarded to early-career researchers for outstanding achievements in continuous liquid film coating science and technology.

In high school, fourth-year biochemical engineering major Stephan Alfaro never could have seen himself as a biochemical engineer, but through lab experience, mentorship and taking advantage of resources at UC Davis, he fell in love with the field and looks forward to making a difference.
