This program is designed to train applicants from a variety of physics, chemistry, biotech, and engineering backgrounds for chemical process engineering positions. We are seeking applicants who are excited to pursue a career in chemical or biochemical processing or related industries.
Successful applicants must meet the following prerequisites:
Bachelor’s Degree with 3.0 GPA
An undergraduate degree in chemistry, engineering, or closely related STEM field with at least a 3.0 grade point average.
Prerequisite Courses
- 1 year (3 quarters or 2 semesters) of Physics (equivalent to PHY 9A-C at UC Davis)
Physical Chemistry or undergraduate courses in thermodynamics and kinetics suggested. - Math pre-requisite: a full year of calculus and one intro course into differential equations. Equivalent to MAT 21A-D MAT22B suggested.
- Programming course strongly recommended (equivalent to ENG 6 at UC Davis) in Python, MatLab or equivalent.
English Language Proficiency
Students who have not obtained a previous degree at an institution where English is the sole language of instruction or demonstrated English-language proficiency through an appropriate exam such as TOEFL or IELTS are required to complete appropriate English language courses, as described in the policy Graduate Student Course Requirements – English as Second Language (GC2018-02). Courses taken in satisfaction of this requirement do not count towards the units required for graduation.
