Marjorie Longo

Dr. Longo creates new biomaterials that combine the properties of biological membranes with the unique properties of non-biological materials, such as mesoporous gels, synthetic polymers and patterned surfaces. Her research group studies the thermodynamic, dynamic and electro-optic behaviors of these new hybrid materials, not only to develop materials that can be used in the discovery of new medicines, generate energy and efficiently deliver medicine to the body, but also deepen an understanding of biological membranes.
