A new study from UC Davis found that the louder people talk, the more airborne particles they emit, making loudness a potential factor in spreading airborne diseases. The study, led by chemical engineering Ph.D. student Sima Asadi in professor William Ristenpart’s group, looked at particle emission during speech as a function of loudness, among other factors.

Applications are invited for a Lecturer with Potential for Security of Employment or Lecturer with Security of Employment position in the department of Chemical Engineering at UC Davis. The successful candidates will be outstanding educators and should provide evidence of effective and innovative teaching in chemical and/or biochemical engineering. In addition to teaching courses, candidates are expected to lead the development and assessment of a new Master of Engineering(MEng) program in chemical engineering.

This position will work on the project entitled “Growth, Viability, Stability, Purification, and Characterization of Ricecalli Expressing Recombinant Proteins.” The appointee will work under the supervision of Professors Somen Nandi and Karen McDonald as well as all members of McDonald-Nandi lab group in Department of Chemical Engineering, UC Davis.
